🚀 Automating Your Automated Response Emails with Make.com

In this post, I’ll show you how I built a fully automated email response workflow using Make.com (formerly Integromat). This workflow can read incoming emails, analyze them using AI, and send a personalized response automatically.

🧩 Step-by-Step Explanation
1️⃣ Watch Emails
The workflow starts by watching your inbox for new messages. As soon as an email arrives, Make.com grabs it and passes it to the next step.
2️⃣ Airtable – Store Email Data
The email details (like sender, subject, and message body) are saved in Airtable. This step is important for record-keeping and analytics — so you always have a database of your received emails.
3️⃣ Google Gemini AI – Draft a Smart Reply
This is where the magic happens!
The email text is sent to Google Gemini AI, which generates a smart, human-like reply based on the content.
4️⃣ Router – Separate Different Scenarios
The Router helps handle different cases:
- Non-JSON Output: If AI doesn’t return a proper JSON, we handle it gracefully.
- Valid JSON Output: If AI gives a valid structured response, we move ahead to the next step.
5️⃣ Parse JSON – Extract the AI Reply
Here we extract the actual response text from the AI output (in JSON format) so we can send it back to the user.
6️⃣ Send Automated Email
Finally, a personalized email is sent back to the original sender — fast, professional, and completely hands-free.
